Sonnenbrand / sunburn

Gestern habe ich einen weiteren Tag am Strand verbracht und mich ausgeruht. Ich habe ein paar Dinge organisiert, d.h. z.B. hab ich rausgefunden, dass man beim lokalen Mobilfunk-Anbieter Zantel Datenvolumen kaufen kann und zwar auf einer wöchentlichen Basis. Da ich meine lokale Nummer sowieso nur für das Internet benötige, habe ich mir für $1.5 700MB für die Woche gekauft und so hat sich nun auch das Problem mit dem Wifi in meinem Backpacker gelöst. Die Verbindung ist so gut, dass ich mein Handy als Hotspot für den iPad nutzen kann :-)

Ich habe die Gegend ein bisschen mehr erkundigt gestern. Und mir das neue Cholo's angeschaut. Früher der Place to be scheint es heute einfach eine weitere Strandbar zu sein. Dazu gehört ein Tauchcenter und ein Restaurant. Die Bar wurde ein bisschen abgeändert und das Tor zur Cholo's Bar scheint nun in Gebrauch zu sein. Die Toiletten sehen gepflegt aus und sind Welten von dem entfernt, was sie früher waren. Ein Spruch eines Songs ziert die Aussenwand. Ein Song, der früher oft im Cholo's gelaufen ist. Ausserdem ziert ein Bild von Khamis Motorrad zwischen den Palmen das Tor und die Rückwand der Bar. Das Motorrad ist jedoch verschwunden. Wo man früher durch den Sand an den Strand gegangen ist, ist heute ein Holzboden mit Tischen. Es sind ausserdem Sonnenbetten aufgestellt, die man mieten kann. Dann ist der Durchgang zum Strand mit einem Seil abgesperrt und nur ein kleiner Durchgang lässt einen zum Strand runter. Auch die Hängematten sind nicht mehr zwischen den Palmen sondern unter einem kleinen Sonnendach und eng beieinander. Die Boote, die als Tische dienten sind zwar noch da, aber stehen irgendwie verloren rum. Ja, Cholo's ist zu einer auswechselbaren Strandbar geworden. Der Besitzer ist ein Israeli und schon länger in Nungwi.

Dann habe ich mich nach einem Hotel am Strand umgesehen und ein gutes Angebot gefunden. Ich werde vermutlich am 14.12.16 nachdem ich von der Stadt zurück bin an den Strand ziehen. Ich glaube, dass ich mich da wohler fühlen werde und vermutlich auch eher mal abends rausgehe als von hier. Ich habe zwar gestern einen alten Bekannten "Captain Hussein" getroffen und er meinte, es sei kein Problem mehr allein nach Hause zu gehen vom Strand abends / nachts nur irgendwie glaub ich das nicht ganz. Und von hier im Dunkeln zum Strand und zurück zu gehen allein, ich weiss nicht so recht. Es ist halt doch ziemlich dunkel so ohne Beleuchtung. Langsam richte ich mich ein.

Meinen ersten Sonnenbrand habe ich mir gestern geholt, trotz Schutzfaktor 50+ ich hätte wohl doch mehrmals Créme auftragen sollen. Ausserdem habe ich "Boss" wieder getroffen und das hat mich sehr gefreut. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass ich ihn nochmals wieder sehe. Letztes Mal als ich hier war, ist es ihm nicht gut gegangen und man hat fast keinen anständigen Satz aus ihm rausgekriegt. Nun scheint er sich aber erholt zu haben und er sagte, er trinke nicht mehr. Das hat mir auch Captain Hussein bestätigt. Mich hat es sehr gefreut zu sehen, dass es Boss besser zu gehen scheint.

Heute bleibe ich nun etwas länger im Backpacker um meiner Haut eine kleine Pause zu gönnen. Die Zeit nutze ich um Wäsche zu waschen. Ausserdem habe ich ca. eine Stunde lang versucht meinen Flug von ZNZ nach DAR zu buchen und habe gute Flugpreise für einen späten Flug verpasst, weil ich keine SMS empfangen konnte und ich 3D aktiviert hab bei meiner Kreditkarte T.I.A. nach einer Stunde proben und pröbeln und nachdem ich den bevorzugten Netzwerkanbieter für meine Schweizer Nummer gewechselt hatte, ist es dann endlich gegangen. Nun bin ich zwar auf einem früheren Flug bezahle aber nur $42 um nach DAR zu gelangen. Und irgendwie werde ich die Zeit am Flughafen in DAR schon rumkriegen ;-)

I spent another sunny day at the beach yesterday. And I also managed to organise some stuff. I for example found a hotel at the beach with reasonable prices and will probably move there by 14th December. I bought a databundle from Zantel, 700MB for $1.5 which I think is a good price. It's valid a week and as I use my phone as a hotspot for my iPad I might even use it. Therefore the problem with the missing wifi at the backpacker is solved. Further on I met some old aquaintances for example Captain Hussein who still owns a shop at the beach and tries to make a livinig by selling souvenirs and snorkling trips. He told me it was safe nowadays to walk in dark up from the beach to the place I am staying. However, I don't know if I should trust this information as before I was always told not to do that.

Apart from organising verryyy important things as to have a internet connection ;-) I also went for a strole through the new Nungwi. I guess I have to learn to accept that it has changed and that's how it is now. So, yes. I went out and explored Cholo's the new Cholo's. Cholo's which used to be the place to be in Nungwi and an exceptional beach bar went from being exceptional to being just another bar at the beach. The gate which I remember was never in use before is now closed and very much in use. The toilets look good from the outside nothing compared with the ones in 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, they look like they're being cleaned, realllyyy ;-). Outside there's part of the lyrics of a song that used to be played at the old Cholo's and that I think to be a great Song. I think it's called "Always wear sunscreen" or so. However, not really an original phrase to use if you'd known that the old manager probably initiated that song at Cholo's. It could also been seen as a tribute to the old manager, if I think about it. Then there's a picture of Khamis motorbike hanging from the two palmtrees however, the motorbike is not there anymore. All that's left is the picture and the memory of it haning there. The bar itself has changed also, it got a back wall now...And the bathtube that's been there since I can remember is gone. Where there used to be sand to walk on to go to the beach is now a wooden floor and tables are on it. Over it there's a roof which connects the bar to the restaraunt and the dive center. It now has sunbeds to rent for the day and the hammocks which I spent so much time in are gone and replaced by trendy looking ones beneath a hut. The bar area and the beach are seperated by a rope and there's only a small hole left to walk down to the beach. The boats that used to serve as tables in the old days are still there but seem to be lost in this bar that's lost a lot of its former charme. Yes, it has changed and the people behind the bar too. It's not the same and it's probably good that it's not eventhough it made me sad. However, as Captain Hussein said yesterday, everything changes, people, places everything. That's just what life is and we live today and not in the past. Right he is. Well, I try to embrace that new Nungwi and will sure become used to it after some time.

I also met Boss another old friend and am very happy that he's still around. The last time I saw him he wasn't in good shape and could barely speak sense. Most of the time one wasn't sure what he wanted to tell you. Nowadays he says, he doesn't drink anymore and exercises and this was confirmed by Captain Hussein. I think that's great. I am happy for Boss that he's better.

As I got sunburned yesterday I decided to stay at the backpacker a bit longer today. I used the time to book a flight from ZNZ to DAR which I thought will be a 5 minutes venture and then it turned out to take an hour (not that I have to be somewhere it was just anoying...). Well I have to confirm by SMS code when I purchase things, which I think is great but as I couldn't get text msgs on my Swiss number it was a pain in the arse today because I couldn't purchase the flight that I wanted and as time got by the price for the flight went up. At last I got to book a flight, it's one earlier then the one I wanted which might be better anyway. So, now I pay $42. Which is a great price I think :-). Also I did some laundry and I hope this is the last time I have to do it. I am never sure if it's really clean after having it washed by hand. It does sure smell clean but is it clean? No one knows ;-)
