Heute hatten wir einen vollgestopften Tag in Hawassa. Am morgen sind wir an den Fischmarkt gegangen und konnten den Fischern zusehen, wie sie Fische ausgenommen haben. Vor allem für mich war das ein Vergnügen..da ich ja Fisch sooooo über alles liebe ;-). Wir sind durch den Markt geschlendert und ich habe mit einem kleinen Jungen Fussball gespielt. Er war ja soooo süss. Und am Ende wollte er mich gar nicht mehr gehen lassen. Hat sich an meinem Fingern festgeklammert. Am liebsten hätte ich ihn mit nach Hause genommen. Da ich jedoch nicht Angelina Jolie bin, hab ich's gelassen. Dann hatten wir Kaffee am Markt mit Kräutern, so soll der Kaffee weniger süchtig machen, jaja genau..hehe.
Der Name Kaffee kommt von einem Ort aus Äthiopien dessen Namen ich jetzt natürlich vergessen habe. Irgendwas mit Kaffa oder so. Dass man den Kaffee rösten und trinken kann haben allerdings nicht die Äthioper/-innen (Gender ;-)) rausgefunden, sondern Menschen im Jemen ((?) bin grad nicht mehr sicher, ob's der Jemen war, sollte wohl etwas besser aufpassen ;-)). Die Menschen in Äthiopien haben vorher Tee aus den Kaffeebohnen gemacht, also bevor entdeckt wurde, dass man die Kaffeebohnen rösten kann und dann Kaffee daraus machen kann.
Zum Mittagessen gab's Fisch. Und ich habe mich mal wieder daran gewagt Fisch zu essen, ehrlich gesagt einfach, weil's gar nichts Anderes zur Auswahl gab. Es war noch nicht mal so schlecht und ich war sehr stolz auf mich, dass ich den Fisch gegessen hab. Dazu gab es Injera, die hiesigen Chapati ;-)
Dann sind wir zu dritt (Jicinta, Bruce und ich) noch zur Kathedrale im Ort gewandert und ich wurde aus der Kathedrale geschmissen, weil ich meine Schuhe nicht ausgezogen habe. Es hat mir aber auch niemand gesagt, dass man die ausziehen muss..Maannnn
Danach sind wir in ein Projekt, das Aidswaisen aufnimmt und sie unterrichtet respektive ihren Schulunterricht bezahlt und schaut, dass sie zu einer Ausbildung kommen. Die Kinder sind bis 14 in diesem Heim und gehen dann zu nahen Verwandten in der Stadt wohnen, damit sie die Kultur besser kennenlernen. Sie werden jedoch weiterhin von dieser Organisation unterstützt. Es war ein sehr spannender Nachmittag.
Tja, das war's für heute. Bis bald mal wieder. Werde vermutlich ab morgen wieder kein Internet haben....
R.I.P. Leonard Cohen. That was the big topic at the breakfast table this morning.
Today was a busy day. We went to a fishmarket which was a pleasure especially for me. As some of you might know I don't really like fish so fishmarkets wouldn't be the first places I'd visit in a foreign country. Well I survived ;-).
I met a little boy there and we played football. At the end he didn't want to let go of my fingers. He held on to them and it was really hard for me to make him let go. He was soooo cute and if I were Angelina Jolie I'd have taken him back to Switzerland. As I am not famous and not rich he unfortunatelly has to stay here.
Then we had some coffee with herbs in it they're supposed to make the coffee less addictive. It was really good coffee.
Coffee originates in Ethiopia. It comes from a town called Kaffa ((?) not so sure if it's spelled correctly) However, it wasn't the Ethiopians who found out about roasting the coffee, it were people of Jemen (not so sure if that is correct, should be more attentive when our local guide talks about these things ;-)) who found out that one can roast the coffee and then actually drink it. The Ethiopians brewed tea out of the coffee leaves before roasting was established.
For lunch we had fish. As mentioned before I am not a big fan of fish. However as I was to shy to tell them that I don't like fish and as there was nothing else on the menue I went for fish. It wasn't too bad actually. I ate it all and am quite proud of me for that.
After lunch three of us went for a stroll in the city to visit the cathedral which is really nice. I got kicked out though because I didn't take off my shoes. NOBODY TOLD ME, maaaannnn. Well I had a quick look which was good :-)
Later in the afternoon we went visiting a children's project. They help Aids orphans and educate them. The kids are there till 14 and go then back to distant relatives and live with them. That's so they can learn about the customs and culture of their people. The institution still covers their education though.
Well that's it for today. Will probably be off the internet again starting tomorrow. So, I'll write as soon as I'll be back online.
